Activated Carbon 500g

Activated carbon is a highly porous form of carbon with an enormous internal surface area, produced by steam-activating charcoal at high temperatures. In aquariums it works by adsorbing dissolved organic compounds, tannins that cause yellow water, unpleasant odours, chlorine residues, and medication chemicals onto its porous surface. A 500g bag is sufficient for a standard canister filter and will remain effective for approximately 4 weeks before its adsorption sites become saturated. It is particularly valuable after medication treatment, when it must be used to purge the tank of residual drugs before biological filtration can recover fully. Granular form offers greater surface area than pellets and is suitable for all filter types.
