ADA Aqua Soil Africana

ADA Aqua Soil Africana shares the same nutrient-rich processed soil base as Amazonia but is distinguished by its warmer brown granule colouration, which ADA developed to complement the earthy tones of African and East African biotope aquariums. The substrate pairs naturally with brown and tan toned hardscape, driftwood, and the warm colouration of African cichlids and East African biotope plants.

Like Amazonia, Africana lowers pH and softens water, though experienced users report it has a slightly milder effect than the darker Amazonia variant. It still provides substantial macro and micronutrient reserves to support demanding aquatic plants, and the same initial ammonia spike during the first weeks of a new setup should be anticipated and managed with frequent water changes.

Africana is particularly popular as a substrate for Tanganyika and East African biotope setups where the aquarist wants to recreate the look of natural African lake and river substrates, and for planted Amazon-style tanks where a warmer substrate tone is preferred over Amazonia's darker black-brown.
