Airstone Round 5cm

The Airstone Round 5cm is the most commonly used round airstone size for standard home aquariums, producing a wide column of fine bubbles that provides thorough oxygenation and gas exchange in tanks from approximately 20 to 80 litres. Its moderate size makes it suitable for use as a standalone aeration device, as a base for sponge filters, or as a supplementary aerator in larger tanks.

The compressed mineral construction allows thousands of fine pores to distribute air evenly, creating a dense bubble column rather than a few large bubbles. This maximises the contact area between air and water, improving dissolved oxygen levels efficiently. The round form factor allows easy placement in corners or central positions without interfering with aquascape layouts.

As with all airstones, service life depends on water hardness and mineral content. In harder water areas, monthly vinegar soaking is recommended to maintain pore openness and even bubble distribution. A weighted base or airline sinker can be used to hold the stone in position on the substrate.
