Altolamprologus calvus 'Yellow'

Altolamprologus calvus 'Yellow' is a captive-selected colour form displaying warm golden-yellow to amber flanks with the characteristic compressed body and spot patterning of the species. While not a wild-type colour form, the Yellow Calvus has established itself firmly in the hobby and is maintained by specialist breeders.

Behaviourally and ecologically, this morph is identical to the black and white forms. It brings a distinctive warm colour palette to Tanganyika aquariums and contrasts beautifully with blue or black-bodied tankmates such as Cyphotilapia or dark Julidochromis morphs.

The Yellow Calvus is slightly less widely available than the black or white forms but is produced by a growing number of breeders. It requires no different care and offers the same behavioural interest — slow-growing, patient, cave-spawning, and endlessly fascinating to observe.
