Altolamprologus compressiceps 'Sumbu'

Altolamprologus compressiceps 'Sumbu' is collected from the Sumbu area on the Zambian shore of Lake Tanganyika. This population is characterised by finer, denser white pearl spotting across the flanks and a slightly more elongated body profile compared to other compressiceps populations, giving it a graceful, streamlined appearance.

The Sumbu form is considered a classic among Tanganyika specialists and has been maintained in captive breeding programmes for decades. It breeds reliably in aquarium conditions and offspring maintain the population's characteristic fine speckling.

All compressiceps husbandry applies: moderate-sized aquarium with extensive rockwork and crevices, clean alkaline water, and a diet of small meaty foods. The Sumbu form integrates well in mixed Tanganyika community aquariums alongside Julidochromis, small Neolamprologus, and non-aggressive Synodontis.
