Amatitlania siquia

Amatitlania siquia was described as a distinct species from the Pacific slope of Nicaragua and Costa Rica following a taxonomic revision of the Convict Cichlid complex. It closely resembles A. nigrofasciata but tends to show slightly different band patterns and coloration depending on population. As with all Amatitlania, it is a robust cave brooder with strong biparental care.

The species inhabits rivers and streams draining into the Pacific, adapting to a range of water conditions from clear highland streams to murky coastal lowlands.
