Ammonia Alert Continuous Monitor

The Ammonia Alert Continuous Monitor is a passive sensor badge that is placed permanently inside the aquarium and changes colour in response to dissolved free ammonia concentration. Unlike liquid test kits that require periodic manual testing, the badge provides continuous visual monitoring, changing from yellow through green to blue as ammonia rises.

The sensor uses a gas-permeable membrane and immobilised bromothymol blue indicator to respond selectively to free ammonia (NH3) rather than total ammonia nitrogen. At typical aquarium pH and temperature, the reading reflects the most biologically toxic ammonia fraction, making it a particularly relevant early warning indicator.

The badge attaches to the inside glass with a suction cup and is visible from outside the tank. One badge remains active for approximately 12 months before the indicator exhausts and requires replacement. No reagents, test tubes, or timing are needed.
