API Furan-2

API Furan-2 combines two nitrofuran compounds — nitrofurazone and furazolidone — to provide a broad-spectrum antibacterial action effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. This dual active ingredient approach makes it one of the more versatile antibiotic treatments available for serious bacterial infections.

Furan-2 is indicated for bacterial ulcer disease, hemorrhagic septicemia, bacterial gill disease, and Pseudomonas and Aeromonas infections that are frequently the underlying cause of skin ulcers and rapid fish deterioration. The combination of two nitrofuran antibiotics with complementary mechanisms reduces the risk of resistance developing during a treatment course.

Furan-2 is a stronger medication than erythromycin or Melafix and is best reserved for conditions that do not respond to milder first-line treatments.
