Aquarium Heating Cable 50W

The Aquarium Heating Cable 50W is a flexible low-voltage resistance wire laid in serpentine rows beneath the substrate of a planted aquarium. When powered, the cable gently warms the lower substrate layer, creating a natural convective current that draws cool water down through the gravel while pushing warm, nutrient-rich water upward through plant root zones.

This bottom-up heating is considered by many planted tank experts to actively promote plant root health and discourage the build-up of anaerobic zones deep in the substrate. The 50W cable is appropriate for tanks up to 100 litres and is typically used in conjunction with an external thermostat for precise temperature control.
