Aquarium Sponge Pad – Coarse

Coarse open-cell foam pads are one of the most versatile materials in the aquarist's toolkit. In filtration, they provide excellent mechanical filtration for larger debris particles and serve as a robust biological media surface in canister, sump, and internal filters. Their open pore structure ensures minimal flow restriction even when moderately loaded with debris.

As a spawning substrate, coarse foam panels are used to line the base of breeding tanks for egg-scattering species, protecting eggs from adult fish predation. They can also be cut to size and used as barrier panels between sections of a sump or refugium.

The standard 50 × 25 × 3cm sheet can be cut easily with scissors to fit any filter housing or tank dimension, and the material is fully reusable after rinsing in old tank water.
