Aquascaping Spatula

The Aquascaping Spatula is a flat, wide-bladed stainless steel tool specifically designed for substrate manipulation in planted aquariums. Its flat blade allows the aquarist to level, slope, and shape substrate across large areas with controlled, smooth strokes — a task that is difficult to perform cleanly with fingers or tweezers.

During the initial aquascape setup, the spatula is used to create precise slope gradients from front to back, to press substrate around newly planted specimens for stability, and to define the boundaries between different substrate zones such as soil planting areas and sand paths. In established aquariums, it assists with substrate levelling after water change disturbance and helps reposition substrate that has been excavated by digging fish.

The long handle of approximately 30 cm provides comfortable reach to the full footprint of tanks up to 60 cm in depth without requiring hand submersion. The thin, flat blade profile minimises water displacement when working in a filled tank, reducing disturbance to the aquascape.
