Aragonite Cichlid Sand (5kg)

Aragonite is a naturally occurring polymorph of calcium carbonate that dissolves more readily than calcite-based coral sand, making it an efficient and natural buffer for alkaline aquarium systems. As the fine aragonite grains dissolve, they release calcium, magnesium, and carbonate ions into the water, raising KH and maintaining pH stability in African cichlid and marine systems.

The consistent fine grain size creates a smooth, natural-looking substrate bed that mimics the sandy shallows of Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika shorelines. In marine tanks, aragonite sand is a preferred substrate due to its dual role as a buffering medium and as a calcium source for corals and invertebrates. The 5-kilogram bag covers approximately 40 × 30 cm at 3 cm depth.
