Aulonocara jacobfreibergi Otter Point

Aulonocara jacobfreibergi Otter Point is one of the most celebrated locality forms of the Fairy Cichlid Peacock, collected from Otter Point on the southern shoreline of Lake Malawi near Monkey Bay. Males from this locality develop particularly intense orange-red fin colouration combined with deep electric-blue on the anterior body — a combination regarded as among the finest in the entire Aulonocara genus.

The Jacob Freiberg's Peacock is one of the larger and more widely distributed peacock cichlid species. Multiple locality forms are recognised, each with slightly different colour expression. The Otter Point form is characterised by the quality and depth of the red-orange pigmentation in the dorsal, caudal, and anal fins.

In the aquarium, this spectacular species is a centrepiece fish for any Malawi hap and peacock community. It requires the standard peacock setup — sandy substrate for foraging, rocky structure, and quality meaty foods. Males in peak condition are amongst the most beautiful freshwater fish available in the hobby.
