Leporinus fasciatus, the Banded Leporinus, is a robust and visually striking large characin found widely throughout the Amazon basin. Its bold alternating black and yellow horizontal bands intensify with age and size. An active, somewhat boisterous fish, it can be nippy towards slower tank mates and will consume soft-leaved plants. Best suited to large, mature community aquariums with sturdy decor and robust tank mates.
