Beneficial Bacteria for Planted Tanks 250ml

Establishing and maintaining a healthy bacterial community is the biological foundation of any successful aquarium, and planted tanks have specific bacterial needs that differ from fish-only setups. This product contains a multi-strain consortium of nitrifying bacteria (Nitrosomonas, Nitrospira) for ammonia and nitrite processing alongside heterotrophic Bacillus species that break down organic waste in the substrate and water column.

For new planted tanks the bacteria accelerate the nitrogen cycle, reducing the weeks-long cycling period and allowing plants to be introduced sooner. For established tanks the periodic addition of fresh bacteria replenishes populations depleted by filter maintenance, medication treatments, or heavy water changes.

The Bacillus strains are particularly beneficial in planted tanks, colonising the substrate and biofilm surfaces where they compete with and displace harmful pathogenic bacteria while processing organic waste into plant-available nutrients. The product is dosed at higher rates during setup and lower maintenance doses thereafter.
