Blackwater Extract Concentrate

Blackwater Extract Concentrate is a liquid peat extract rich in humic acids, fulvic acids, and tannins that together replicate the biological signature of Amazonian blackwater habitats. When added to the aquarium it produces a characteristic amber tint, lowers pH mildly, and releases compounds that have been shown to reduce fish stress, inhibit bacterial and fungal pathogens, and stimulate reproductive behaviour.

Many tetras, dwarf cichlids, discus, bettas, and killifish respond strongly to the introduction of blackwater conditions, treating the change as the onset of the wet season — the natural cue for spawning. The concentrate is highly economical: a single 100ml bottle treats up to 2,000 litres at standard dosage. It can be used alone or combined with RO water or a softening resin to achieve optimal soft, acidic breeding water.
