Blasting Sand Substrate (10kg)

Blasting sand has become one of the most popular budget substrates in the aquarium hobby, prized for its completely inert mineral composition, consistent fine grain size, and very low cost per kilogram. Originally manufactured for industrial surface preparation, aquarium keepers discovered that food-safe grades of blasting sand are ideal for large freshwater setups where premium substrates would be prohibitively expensive.

The dark grey to near-black colouration closely resembles volcanic sand, making it visually attractive in planted tanks and blackwater biotopes. Its fine, angular grains pack together more tightly than rounded sand, providing firmer anchorage for plant roots. At 10 kilograms, this bag provides sufficient substrate for a standard 120-litre tank at 4 cm depth.
