Blue Blusher Angelfish

The Blue Blusher Angelfish is a captive strain combining two complementary traits: the blusher gene (which removes the opercular pigment to reveal the pinkish gill tissue beneath, creating a 'blushing' transparent cheek) and selective breeding for enhanced blue iridescence on the body and fins.

The result is a fish that appears to glow from within — the blue sheen refracts light across the flanks while the rose-tinted cheeks add a soft warmth to the overall appearance. This is a compound strain requiring careful selective breeding to maintain both characteristics in the offspring.

Blue blushers are slightly more sensitive than standard angels to water quality fluctuations, as the reduced cheek pigmentation can make gill stress more visible. They benefit from excellent filtration and stable, slightly soft water conditions.
