This variety was developed through selective breeding programmes that favoured the elimination of patterning in favour of pure colour intensity. Like all discus, the Blue Diamond descends from wild stock found in the warm blackwater rivers of the Amazon basin, where soft, acidic, tannin-rich water is the norm.
