Bucephalandra 'Arrogant'

Bucephalandra 'Arrogant' earns its bold name through the confident, upright stance of its stiff, dark leaves and the assertive visual presence it projects in any planted aquascape. Unlike the more sprawling or delicate-looking Bucephalandra varieties, 'Arrogant' holds its leaves in a notably upright, almost imperious posture on a robust rhizome, making it look deliberately architectural rather than casually naturalistic.

The leaves are deep green to dark olive with a strong iridescent surface that shifts between blue-green and teal. The stiff leaf texture also means the surface catches light at different angles than flexible-leafed varieties, producing a bold, faceted light reflection that contributes to the plant's assertive character.

In layout design, 'Arrogant' works best as a deliberate focal point — a single plant or tight group on a prominent rock or piece of driftwood, positioned where its upright, commanding leaves will naturally draw the eye. It is not a background filler but a statement specimen.
