Bucephalandra 'Red Mini'

Bucephalandra 'Red Mini' combines the collectability of Bornean epiphyte Bucephalandra with a petite scale that makes it ideal for the smallest aquariums. Its leaves measure only 1–2 cm and display warm reddish-brown tones with a delicate iridescent sheen that catches light beautifully in nano setups. The compact growth habit means a single rhizome section can be used as a complete focal plant in a 5–10 litre aquarium.

Like all Bucephalandra, 'Red Mini' originates from the clear, fast-flowing rivers of Kalimantan and grows best in soft, slightly acidic water with moderate flow. It tolerates harder water conditions but may grow more slowly and display less vivid colouration. CO2 supplementation is beneficial but the plant adapts reasonably well to low-tech nano setups if lighting and nutrients are managed carefully.

The reddish leaf tones intensify under medium light and with adequate iron availability. It pairs perfectly with miniature mosses, micro ferns, and shrimp, making it a centrepiece of the miniature planted world.
