Bucephalandra sp. 'Catherine'

Bucephalandra sp. 'Catherine' is a named collector's variety distinguished by its particularly well-formed, elliptical to lanceolate leaves with a smooth, glossy surface and a consistent silver-blue to blue-green iridescent overlay. The name 'Catherine' was assigned by collectors and traders to distinguish this form from the many similarly sized Bucephalandra variants; it is not a formally described species. Leaves are typically 3–5 cm long and mid-green with the characteristic iridescent sheen.

This variety is valued for the consistency and intensity of its iridescence, which tends to be more reliable across different lighting conditions than some other forms. It grows on a slowly creeping rhizome and is best kept attached to smooth driftwood or rocks in soft, slightly acidic water. CO2 supplementation is beneficial but not critical in well-maintained low-light setups. It is an excellent introduction to the world of collector Bucephalandra for aquascapers moving beyond common Anubias.
