Bucephalandra 'Theia'

Bucephalandra 'Theia' is named after the Greek Titan goddess of light and luminescence, a name well earned by the exceptional intensity of its iridescent blue sheen. The leaves are broad, somewhat oval, and very dark in base colour, making the blue iridescence all the more dramatic by contrast. Under point-source LED lighting the effect is particularly spectacular, with individual leaves appearing to emit blue light of their own.

This is a collector-grade cultivar that commands premium pricing and is best suited to aquascapers who can provide its preferred conditions: soft, slightly acidic water, CO2 supplementation, and medium directional lighting. Under these conditions growth is slow but leaves are produced reliably and the iridescent quality is consistent across all new growth.

'Theia' works as a solitary centrepiece specimen in a dedicated nano layout or as the crown jewel in a mixed Bucephalandra collection on a feature stone. It pairs magnificently with pale, almost white driftwood or volcanic rock where the dark, blue-glowing leaves create maximum visual drama.
