Hyphessobrycon anisitsi, the Buenos Aires Tetra, is one of the most cold-tolerant tetras in the hobby, native to the La Plata basin of Argentina, Uruguay, and southern Brazil. Its silver body with red-tipped fins is attractive and undemanding to maintain. It is an energetic, somewhat boisterous fish known to consume soft-leaved plants — sturdier plant species like java fern and anubias are recommended.
