Calcium & Magnesium Supplement 500ml

Reverse osmosis water and very soft tap water are favoured in many planted tank styles for their chemical neutrality, but they lack the calcium and magnesium that aquatic plants require for cell wall construction, chlorophyll synthesis, and enzyme function. This supplement provides calcium and magnesium in a 3:1 ratio that closely mirrors the natural Ca:Mg balance plants encounter in moderately soft natural habitats.

Calcium supports cell wall integrity, root tip growth, and membrane function, while magnesium is central to chlorophyll production and ATP metabolism. Together they raise general hardness (GH) in a balanced way, creating the mineral foundation that both plants and fish require for healthy physiology.

At the standard dose of 5ml per 100L the product raises GH by approximately 1 degree of hardness. It can be dosed incrementally to reach any target GH, making it ideal for hobbyists remineralising RO water for specific plant or fish species requirements.
