Ceramic Ring Media 500g

Ceramic ring media is the cornerstone of biological filtration in the modern aquarium hobby. Each ring is sintered from inert clay at high temperature, producing a microporous structure with a surface area many times greater than that of a smooth equivalent volume. This porous architecture supports dense colonies of aerobic nitrifying bacteria on outer surfaces and, in the deeper pores, anaerobic denitrifying bacteria that can reduce nitrate. The rings are chemically inert, do not affect pH, and can be rinsed and reused indefinitely. A 500g bag is sufficient to establish biological filtration in a canister filter serving tanks up to 150 litres. They are compatible with all filter types — canister, sump, internal, and HOB — and are a cost-effective long-term investment.
