Chromidotilapia mrac

Chromidotilapia mrac is an undescribed or informally named Chromidotilapia form collected from the Congo basin region of Central Africa. It is distinguished from described congeners by modest but consistent differences in colouration and body proportions, and carries the provisional designation 'mrac' pending formal description. Body colour is soft olive-green to gold with metallic scale highlights.

Like all Chromidotilapia, the mrac form is a biparental mouthbrooder in which both sexes share incubation duties. Its temperament is gentle for a cichlid of this size, and it can be kept in a spacious community with appropriately sized companions.

Soft to moderately hard water (pH 6.0–7.5) and a well-structured aquarium of at least 150 L are recommended. Bogwood, flat rocks, plants, and open substrate areas replicate the forested river margins where this form is found.
