Clay-Based Planted Substrate (5L)

Clay-based planted substrate harnesses the naturally high cation exchange capacity of processed clay minerals to bind and hold macro and micronutrients firmly within the substrate matrix. Unlike organic soils that break down over time, the clay structure remains stable for years, making it an economical long-term investment for established planted tanks.

The substrate works particularly well as a standalone mid-to-deep layer or as an enriched complement beneath inert sands and gravels. Its orange-brown hue closely resembles natural tropical river clay, lending authenticity to biotope and natural-style aquascapes. Water clarity is maintained from day one as the clay particles are kiln-fired to prevent break-down and clouding.
