Coeruleus Hemigrammus

Hemigrammus coeruleus is a rarely available Hemigrammus species from Peruvian Amazon tributaries, prized by nano and planted tank enthusiasts for the delicate blue iridescent sheen running along its flanks. The overall body is translucent silver-blue with faint lateral markings, and the blue colour intensifies beautifully under low-angle lighting in well-planted, soft-water aquariums.

This species demands soft, acidic water with stable parameters, dense planting for security, and peaceful companions. In optimal conditions it is a genuinely striking fish, though it can be overlooked in favour of more dramatically coloured tetras. Its rarity and beauty make it a sought-after acquisition for the discerning small-tetra collector.

Feeding follows the standard Hemigrammus approach: quality micro-pellets, crushed flake, and regular live or frozen micro-foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and micro-worms. Stable water quality and a consistent feeding regime produce the best colouration and long-term health.
