Creamsicle Molly

The Creamsicle Molly is a captive variety of Poecilia sphenops named for its resemblance to the orange-and-cream frozen dessert. The body displays softly blended patches or gradients of warm orange and creamy white, with the distribution varying between individuals and giving the strain a pleasingly varied appearance within a single group.

This is a newer and somewhat less common molly variety that offers a softer, more pastel alternative to the bold solid colours of black or orange mollies. The creamsicle pattern is particularly attractive in well-lit planted aquariums where the warm tones contrast with green foliage.

All standard molly husbandry applies — hard, slightly alkaline, lightly saline water and an algae-rich diet are the keys to long-term health and vibrant colouration.
