Cryptocoryne ciliata

Cryptocoryne ciliata is one of the most distinctive and ecologically unusual species in the genus, native to coastal and tidal zones of Southeast Asia. It is notably tolerant of brackish water conditions, making it almost unique among Cryptocoryne. Its broad, oval to lanceolate leaves are bright to medium green and can grow to considerable size. The spathe is characterised by prominent cilia, giving the species its name. In the aquarium, it adapts readily to freshwater conditions and is among the more forgiving Cryptocoryne species. An excellent choice for biotope tanks representing mangrove or tidal freshwater habitats.
