Cyathopharynx furcifer 'Kigoma'

Cyathopharynx furcifer 'Kigoma' is prized as one of the most intensely blue colour forms of this spectacular species. Males from the Kigoma region develop a particularly deep and saturated electric-blue colouration that covers the entire body and head, intensifying dramatically during breeding display.

The extraordinarily elongated pelvic fins are even more pronounced in well-conditioned Kigoma males, creating a breathtaking visual display as males hover over their sand-castle constructions trailing their fins like iridescent banners. Females are considerably smaller and less ornate.

This population's premium colouration makes water quality maintenance especially critical, as stress or poor conditions rapidly suppress the vivid blue pigmentation.
