Cyphotilapia frontosa 'Tanzania Blue'

Cyphotilapia frontosa 'Tanzania Blue' is perhaps the most celebrated colour form of C. frontosa in terms of blue intensity. Dominant males develop an extraordinary electric-blue pigmentation throughout the head, nape, and upper flanks that deepens with age and condition, making this form the benchmark for Frontosa colouration in the hobby.

This population is exported from the Tanzanian coastline and has established a strong following among serious Frontosa collectors worldwide. Captive-bred specimens are available from dedicated breeders, though wild-caught imports command significant premium pricing.

As with all Frontosa, the Tanzania Blue requires a large, deep aquarium with excellent water quality. Their intelligence and personalised behaviour make them highly rewarding long-term aquarium residents, and well-kept specimens become genuinely interactive with their keeper.
