Danio absconditus Longfin

The Longfin form of Danio absconditus displays the extended, flowing fins typical of selectively bred longfin danio varieties, adding particular elegance to this modest-sized species. Danio absconditus itself is native to hill streams of northeast India and neighbouring Myanmar, where it was described relatively recently. The base species is a slender, silvery danio with subtle patterning; in the longfin morph, the dorsal, caudal, and anal fins are dramatically elongated. Because of the extended finnage, current should be gentle to moderate to prevent fin damage and fatigue. Care otherwise follows standard small danio husbandry: clean water, good oxygenation, groups of six or more, and a varied diet. It is peaceful with all similarly sized community fish.
