Devario acuticephala Longfin

The Longfin form of Devario acuticephala adds gracefully elongated fins to a species already characterised by its pointed, streamlined head and attractive iridescent banding. Devario acuticephala is native to rivers and streams of northeast India and neighbouring regions, where it inhabits moderately flowing, clear water. The longfin morph is produced through selective captive breeding and retains the same hardy constitution as the base species. Fins are extended in the dorsal, caudal, and anal regions, giving the school an impressively elegant appearance. Because of the extended fins, strong currents should be avoided; a spray bar directed at the surface is preferable. All other husbandry mirrors standard Devario care: spacious tank, secure lid, and a varied diet. Avoid fin-nipping tankmates.
