Dichotomyctere Fluviatilis (River Form)

Dichotomyctere fluviatilis is one of the few members of the genus that completes its life cycle entirely in freshwater rather than requiring brackish conditions as an adult. The river form designation distinguishes it from coastal estuarine populations and refers to inland river specimens that show paler, more washed-out green colouration and live permanently in freshwater without saline influence. Distributed across rivers of Sri Lanka, India, and parts of Southeast Asia, it inhabits the middle to lower reaches of rivers with moderate flow and sandy substrates. The aquarium should provide clean, neutral to slightly soft freshwater, good flow, and a sandy bottom. Snail feeding remains critical for beak maintenance. It is slightly less aggressive than the brackish GSP relatives but still requires a single-specimen setup.
