Digital Refractometer

The Digital Refractometer eliminates the subjectivity of optical shadow-line reading by using an LED light source, CCD sensor, and internal processor to calculate salinity and specific gravity automatically. The result is displayed as a precise digital value within 3 seconds of applying the sample, removing human interpretation error from the measurement.

The instrument applies ATC compensation across a 10–40°C range and measures salinity from 0 to 100 ppt with ±0.1 ppt resolution. A single button controls measurement and unit switching. The sample well holds 0.3 ml, and the cover plate keeps the sample optically flat during measurement.

For reef aquarists where salinity accuracy directly affects coral health and osmotic balance, the digital refractometer provides confidence in results that optical instruments cannot match. Calibration with a certified seawater standard is recommended at initial setup.
