Dragon Stone / Ohko Stone

Dragon Stone, also known as Ohko Stone, is a uniquely porous volcanic rock characterised by its intricate network of deep holes, channels, and ridged surfaces that visually evoke reptilian scales or eroded cliff faces. Its earthy brown-orange colouration with grey undertones complements the warm tones of natural wood substrates and red aquatic plants, making it an extremely versatile hardscape choice.

Unlike Seiryu Stone, Dragon Stone is pH neutral and does not meaningfully alter water chemistry, making it safe for use in shrimp tanks, soft-water biotopes, and discus aquariums without additional water chemistry management. Its porous surface provides enormous surface area for beneficial bacteria colonisation, contributing to biological filtration capacity.

The stone is workable — it can be carefully scored and split with a chisel to produce custom shapes or flat joining faces, allowing aquascapers to bond multiple pieces with aquarium-safe epoxy for complex overhanging or cave formations.
