Echinodorus 'Rosé'

Echinodorus 'Rosé' is a compact European cultivar prized for its pastel colouration: young leaves emerge in soft shades of pink, salmon, and blush-white before gradually maturing to mid-green as they age. This results in a continuously changing palette within the rosette — the youngest central leaves in warm pink tones, the outer leaves in green — creating a subtle, elegant two-tone effect. Mature plants reach 20–35 cm, making them ideal midground specimens.

The intensity of the pink colouration depends strongly on lighting and iron availability. Under medium-to-bright light with consistent iron supplementation, the young leaves are vibrantly coloured; in low light or iron-deficient conditions the pink fades to near-white or pale cream. CO2 supplementation is beneficial but not essential for maintaining colour.

The Rosé Sword suits aquascapes and community tanks where subtle warm colour accents are desired without the intensity of fully red sword cultivars. It pairs beautifully with green stem plants and contrasts well against darker hardscape elements.
