Hemiloricaria eigenmanni honours Carl H. Eigenmann, the American ichthyologist who made landmark contributions to South American fish taxonomy in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This species is native to Guyana and Suriname, occupying rivers draining the Guiana Shield — some blackwater, some clearwater, all characterised by soft, low-mineral water and high dissolved organic content.

In the aquarium, this species requires soft, slightly acidic water conditions that reflect its natural Guianan river environment. The delicate reticulated pattern on its flanks is best appreciated in a dark-substrate, heavily decorated aquarium with tannin-stained water created by driftwood and leaf litter. Under such conditions it settles quickly and displays its natural behaviour.

Feeding and spawning behaviour follow standard Hemiloricaria protocols. A settled specimen will accept algae wafers and blanched vegetables readily. For breeding, a hollow tube or bamboo section of appropriate diameter should be provided.

Orders are processed within 1-2 business days. Standard shipping typically takes 3-5 business days.

Free shipping on orders over the store's free shipping threshold. Pickup may also be available depending on the store's settings.

Images show typical examples for illustrative purposes only; actual appearance varies by age, batch, and condition.

Items are considered accepted once delivery is completed, and normal variation cannot be used as a basis for concern or a service request.
