Enantiopus sp. 'Kilesa'

Enantiopus sp. 'Kilesa' is an undescribed species or distinct population from the Kilesa area of Lake Tanganyika. It closely resembles E. melanogenys in body plan and behaviour but is distinguished by notably more intense and saturated blue head and body colouration in breeding males, making it particularly prized by advanced Tanganyika specialists.

Like E. melanogenys, males build elaborate sand craters during breeding and display with elongated, trailing pelvic fins. Females are sole mouthbrooders. The species is rarely available outside specialist networks and is considered a collector's fish.

Care requirements are identical to E. melanogenys: deep fine sand, large open aquarium, and a peaceful community setup.
