Organic substrate additives and mulm accumulation in planted aquariums can either be a rich nutrient reservoir or a source of anaerobic decomposition and root rot, depending on how effectively enzymes break down complex organic molecules. This enzyme additive introduces targeted cellulase, amylase, and protease directly to the water column, allowing these enzymes to percolate into the substrate and accelerate the breakdown of cellulosic plant debris, starch particles, and protein waste.
