Fasciatus Astyanax

Astyanax fasciatus, the Banded Astyanax, is among the most widely distributed characins in the Americas, ranging from Mexico through Central America to northern South America. It features a silver-olive body with a metallic lateral stripe, a bold black caudal spot, and a clear silver-to-gold iridescence on the upper flanks. It is one of the most tolerant tetras available, withstanding significant variation in temperature, pH, and hardness. This robustness makes it an ideal choice for beginners, and its active schooling behavior provides energy and movement to larger community aquariums. Best kept in groups in spacious tanks.
