Ghost Angelfish

The Ghost Angelfish carries the stripeless (S) gene which entirely suppresses the vertical black barring that defines most angelfish morphs, resulting in a nearly uniform, pale silver-white body with a ghost-like, ethereal quality. Subtle iridescent blue or green highlights may appear depending on lighting conditions.

The stripeless gene is recessive, so both parents must carry it to produce ghost offspring. Ghost angels appear almost translucent under certain lighting, and their internal organs and skeleton may be faintly visible through the body wall — a feature that gives the strain its evocative name.

Despite their delicate appearance, ghost angels are as hardy as any other domestic strain. They are best displayed against darker backgrounds or in heavily planted tanks where their pale form creates a dramatic focal point.
