Gold Angelfish (Domestic)

The Gold Angelfish is a captive strain carrying the gold locus mutation that suppresses black melanin, resulting in a warm, uniform golden-yellow body. The stripes are entirely absent or reduced to faint ghost bars, and the fins take on a translucent amber-gold hue.

This morph was one of the earliest domestic angelfish colour variants and remains popular for its clean, warm appearance. It contrasts beautifully with darker tank mates and dark substrate/background setups. Gold angels are fully domesticated and among the hardiest angelfish morphs available.

As with all angelfish, they require a tall aquarium with stable warm water, a varied diet, and compatible tank mates. They breed readily and make excellent introductory cichlids for aquarists moving from community fish keeping.
