Gold Twinbar Platy

The Gold Twinbar Platy is distinguished by the twinbar gene, which produces two parallel black bars at the base of the caudal fin — one at the caudal peduncle and one at the fin's trailing edge — creating a framed or bracketed appearance on the tail. Combined with a warm golden body, the effect is clean and refined.

Twinbar platies are slightly less common than the standard wagtail or mickey mouse varieties, making them a more distinctive choice for the community aquarium. They carry identical hardiness and adaptability traits to all platy varieties.

The golden body colour is best maintained with a diet that includes carotenoid-rich foods such as spirulina flake or colour-enhancing formulas.
