Hi-Fin Lyretail Swordtail Male

The Hi-Fin Lyretail Swordtail is one of the most elaborate fancy swordtail varieties, stacking two genetic fin mutations: the hi-fin gene producing a tall, sail-like dorsal fin, and the lyretail gene producing an elongated upper and lower caudal ray creating a symmetrical double-sword or lyre shape. The red-and-white colouration completes an impressive display fish.

This variety requires more careful husbandry than standard swordtails — the extended fins are vulnerable to fin-nipping and physical damage, and the fish needs a well-spaced aquarium with no sharp decor and gentle, non-turbulent flow that won't stress the elaborate finnage.

At full development, males are genuinely spectacular fish that rival many cichlids and gouramis for visual impact in a community aquarium.
