Hollandi Piranha

Serrasalmus hollandi is endemic to the Rio São Francisco in Brazil, sharing that drainage with S. brandtii and Pygocentrus piraya. It displays fine dark spotting on a silver body and a notably large eye that lends it an intelligent, inquisitive expression — a feature highly regarded by collector keepers.

As a São Francisco endemic, it likely benefits from the slightly harder, more mineral-rich conditions of that drainage compared to typical Amazonian piranhas. This may make it marginally more forgiving of neutral water conditions. It is rarely imported and commands specialist collector prices.
