Hygrophila salicifolia

Hygrophila salicifolia is an elegant stem plant from South and Southeast Asia bearing long, narrow, willow-like leaves that wave attractively in aquarium current. It is less commonly encountered than H. corymbosa or H. polysperma but is equally easy to cultivate, adapting well to a broad range of water conditions. The elongated, lance-shaped leaves give the aquascape a naturalistic, riparian feel that complements both hardscape-based and plant-dominated layouts. Fast-growing under good conditions, it is an effective nutrient exporter that helps maintain water quality. Regular trimming at the top produces side shoots, gradually filling out into a lush background mass.
