Infrared Non-Contact Thermometer

The Infrared Non-Contact Thermometer measures surface temperature by detecting emitted infrared radiation from the aquarium glass exterior, displaying the result instantaneously without requiring water contact. The handheld pistol-grip design with trigger activation makes it the fastest tool for checking tank temperatures across a fish room or retail store.

Although the glass-surface reading is typically 0.5–1°C below actual water temperature due to emissivity differences, the consistent offset makes it reliable for comparative surveys once the offset is established against a calibrated in-tank thermometer. The 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio allows measurements from 30 cm away without affecting the reading.

The thermometer is particularly useful for checking heater performance, identifying cold spots from poor circulation, and assessing equipment surface temperatures without interfering with the aquarium environment.
